Overflowing Thanksgiving

2 Corinthians 4:15 - All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.”

Paul is writing to the Christians in Corinth and he is once again reminding them that his main reason for enduring so much suffering is because his number one goal is to shine the light of Jesus Christ to as many people as possible. In other words, he’s doing it for them, and for everyone that they can reach too.

Some of his followers in Corinth were questioning why Paul continues to suffer if he is truly an apostle of Jesus. They felt that God should have protected Paul. But Paul tells them that God does not spare his servants from suffering, but that God provides for them during their suffering. He tells them that it is worth it... the people in Corinth and the people they will touch, are worth it.

So many people, when they struggle through hardships, lose their faith. But being a believer, being faithful to God does not protect a person from hardships, difficulties and suffering. Some days are downright hard to get through, and I’ve had those days. We all have. Sometimes it’s a bunch of little things that just keep adding up and adding up. Or it might just be one huge problem we are facing. But we need to take comfort in God’s promises. He is faithful. He will show us how to have faith in hard times.

Paul tells the people many times that they are worth it. The more people who receive God’s grace, the more people who will give thanks to God and more glory will be given to God.  If you are struggling to keep your faith during hard times, reach out in this group. Every Sunday we put up a post where you can list your prayer request. I go through them and so do so many others, and we pray for your strength and we pray for you to feel God with you as your face the trials of life. With His love and encouragement, we can find hope for tomorrow and strength for today.
