Preach the Gospel at all Times
"Preach the gospel at all times and when necessary, use words" Francis of Assisi. This is all about living a godly life. A life of love, kindness, compassion, integrity and forgiveness. No one likes to be 'preached at' or told that they aren't doing what is right. I always thought that it made people dig in their heels and resist.
Check out this commentary of 2 Cor 3:18 by another Francis - Francois Du Toit: "Scripture is deadly when it is a display window instruction manual for behavior! The life is in the truth about you, mirrored in Christ Jesus - He is so much more that a manual - He is Emmanual! There is such a big difference between window-shopping and mirror-gazing; the one condemns the other transforms!"
Do you remember the hymn, "Take My Life and Let it Be"? Lyrics written by yet another Francis in 1874 - Frances R Havergal. [Chris Tomlin has an updated version of this beautiful song]. Here are the first two verses (I bet you're singing them!)
Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands, and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love;
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee,
Swift and beautiful for Thee.
Father, let others see Jesus in us. We are made in Your image, let us act in it as well. Amen
Have a blessed day!
