Search for Me
What a promise! If we look for God, WE WILL FIND HIM. What if we replace the word, "God" with "a million dollars"? I bet every person you know would join in. Wouldn't we even search more diligently? A guaranteed fortune? Or what about "health" or "contentment" or "happiness". These things are tangible, and we actually see how they can make life better.
Seeking God is something we do on Sundays, right? But that isn't diligently seeking, if we're honest. Look at how Jesus phrases this: In Jeremiah, this verse pertained to the Israelites in exile, but Jesus used these words right after teaching His disciples how to pray. Luke 11:9-10 "So I tell you, continue to ask, and God will give to you. Continue to search, and you will find. Continue to knock, and the door will open for you. Yes, whoever continues to ask will receive. Whoever continues to look will find. And whoever continues to knock will have the door opened for them.
Continue, continue, continue - six times. There is no question that seeking God is an on-going process, that is, if we want to know Him. This is not a salvation passage - this is about deepening your relationship with Him. Go and seek Him - He's easy to find and will never disappoint!
