Seek the Lord

“Seek the LORD while He may be found; call on Him while He is near; 
Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the LORD, and He will have mercy on them, and to our God, for He will freely pardon.” ~Isaiah 55:6-7

Humankind is essentially a group of preschoolers. Missing Mum or Daddy when they’re not in plain sight. Afraid to be away overnight. Wanting the comfort of that special blankie or stuffy. Feeling lost and alone.

The prophet is addressing the exiled Israelites, who have just about abandoned hope of ever returning to their homeland. They think that the Babylonian gods might be stronger than Yahweh, the One True God. The writer assures them that Yahweh is not only their God, but the God of the whole universe. "Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please." Isaiah 46:9-10

Earlier in chapter 55, it says, “ “Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.” Sound familiar? Fast forward to the time of Jesus, when He meets the Samaritan women in John 4: “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

The gift of eternal life is FREE. And it is for everyone. God is right THERE - He never leaves or forsakes us. Seek Him. Call on Him. You are never alone.
