“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” ~Colossians 3:2

“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” ~Colossians 3:2

The 2026 Winter Olympics is in full swing. History being made, records broken, unimaginable feats performed, with one goal in mind - that coveted Gold Medal. In some countries, it means financial freedom and fame, while in other, life or death.

These athletes spend their whole lives, sacrificing time with family and friends, training, molding, bending, sometimes breaking their bodies to reach this goal.

What is Paul teaching in his letter to Colossi? He’s all for physical workouts; in fact, he compares his journey with that of an ancient Greek athlete. He trained his body hard in order to withstand all the physical difficulties he had to face in his ministry [1 Corinthians 9: 24-27]. But the most important thing of all was keeping his eyes on the things above.

We all will win the gold and stand on the podium with Jesus! We may get mighty dinged up along on the way. Suffering and hardships. But 2 Corinthians tells us that “For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison."

“Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men.
For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the One Man's obedience the many will be made righteous. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.” ~Romans 5:18-19; 1 Corinthians 15:22
