Singing to God With Gratitude in Your Hearts
“Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.” ~Colossians 3:16
Psalms, hymns, songs, singing….Four ways of using music as a way of saying ‘thank-you’ to the living God. The number four in scripture represents the entire globe, the creative work of God. We see this in the four corners of the earth, the four compass points, the four elements of earth, air, fire and water, the list goes on and on.
Picture the whole world singing to the Lord all at once! The globe throbbing with sound, pulsating with the voices of His children in love. Someday, this will happen. Maybe it will be Christmas Eve, when 'Silent Night' is heard in most churches, rippling across time zones. Or New Years when people seem to be thankful, some that the year is over and a new one is about to begin.
Whenever this occurs, it will be glorious! Let’s start now!
Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King!
Let ev'ry heart prepare Him room,
and heav'n and nature sing,
and heav'n and nature sing,
and heav'n, and heav'n and nature sing.
Have a blessed day!
