Straight Paths

“In all your ways submit to Him, and He will makes your paths straight.” ~Proverbs 3:6

This verse is the ultimate guide to life. It’s so simple, yet why is it so hard to do? The common belief is that if we make God front and center, He in turn will make our lives free of bumps and bruises. I’m not sure that is what God meant.

In the ancient times, travel was a dangerous activity - bandits or wild animals could attack without warning, hiding in the crevices along the road. God used this concept to relate to our journey thru life. When He is our guide, it doesn’t matter what is lurking in the shadows, for He is our light. He illuminates our path. Eyes focused on Him puts all the difficulties and dangers in their place. No matter what it is, when God is on our team, the enemy is squashed. We may have to fight, but our win is guaranteed with the reward of love, joy and peace in the Holy Spirit.

Jesus is our example. He knew what was coming on the Cross, yet He submitted Himself to His Father, “Not My will but Yours”. It was terrible. It was awful. But God sustained Him through it all. Hebrews 12:2  “Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Father, remind us to focus on You. You alone can drive out fear and uncertainty. We know you love us but we don’t always trust that love. Strengthen us , straighten our path and increase our faith. Thank you and Amen!
