Thank You, Father, for Giving us a Day to Give Thanks
Thank you, Father, for giving us a day to give thanks - to be reminded to be grateful for all You have given us. We know we take so much for granted. We know we often think we deserve better. We expect smooth sailing throughout our busy days - days that are too full to include You. Teach us to be still and listen for Your voice. To know…truly KNOW that You have what is best for us.
Father, forgive us for setting You aside, forgetting that You are always present, for only taking You out on Sundays or with the Christmas decorations. How silly that seems when we consider Who You are. How self-centered we are, oh-so-selfish.
But You don’t condemn us. You know what we’re like, better than we do. You love us with an unfailing love. You are relentless in Your pursuit of us. Let us praise You with these words by Cory Asbury:
And oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights 'til I'm found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn't earn it, and I don't deserve it, still, you give yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah
There's no shadow you won't light up
Mountain you won't climb up
Coming after me
There's no wall you won't kick down
Lie you won't tear down
Coming after me
Thank you, Father. Amen
