The Kingdom of the Son

“For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves.” ~Colossians 1:13

The word ‘dominion’ has an ominous feel - I picture a Stephen King novel where darkness is a physical entity that entraps and engulfs, no escape from reaching syrupy fingers of evil. Dark fog obscures all vision. Cold damp moisture invades space, replacing all warmth and comfort. Entrapment. Hopelessness. Desperation.

But God. He is always the rescuing force. There is safety with Him. God does this. Every. Time. Because He created all things in Christ. Let there be light!

“All things were made through Him, and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. “ ~John 1:3-4

That tells me that we have to CHOOSE darkness. Christ is the light. His Kingdom is light. God saves us from ourselves and brings us into that kingdom. Escape from the darkness into the luminescent radiance of Glory where fear cannot exist. There is no judgment because He suffered that for all.
”There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.” ~Romans 8:1-2

“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ~Romans 8:38-39
