What a great way to start off a new year! The very thought of God taking delight in me is almost unbelievable.
This book specifically was written to the Israelites about 40 years before the take-down of Jerusalem by Babylon. But we can apply to our time, as well. God warns, disaster strikes, then God restores, a common pattern throughout history. We can look back and think, “why didn’t they listen”, but hindsight is 20/20. Why don’t WE listen? We don’t have prophets like Zephaniah, but we have God’s word that promises restoration and reconciliation!
I wonder if Hillsong’s Mighty to Save came from Zephaniah?
Well, everyone needs compassion

The Hope of nations
Savior, He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
