The One Who is Wise
“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives.” ~Proverbs 11:30
King Solomon lived a large life - he ruled over vast lands, his people were happy and peaceful, he was building the temple for the Lord. One night, God said, “What would you like me to give you.” Can you imagine? What would you ask for? It’s kind of like that question we throw about, “What would you do if you won the lottery”. Oh the possibilities!
Solomon asked for wisdom. God replied, “I will do what you have asked. I will give you more wisdom and understanding than anyone has ever had before or will ever have again. I will also give you what you have not asked for: all your life you will have wealth and honor, more than that of any other king.” 1 Kings 3:12-13
The book of Proverbs, written by Solomon, is known as a book of wisdom, filled with practical advice for common issues. If all scripture points to Jesus, how does this fit in? 1 Corinthians 1:30 tells us that Jesus is wisdom for us. HE IS WISDOM. It goes on to say that He is our righteousness. The tree of life, the star of the Garden of Eden, is the forecast of the Cross, where the Wise saved lives. Those saved lives are the fruit of Jesus Christ. In other words, we’re His fruit and we become part of that living tree, also producing fruit! What love is this!
Have a blessed day!
