The Path of Your Commands
“I run in the path of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding.” ~Psalm 119:32
The BBE (Bible in Basic English) translation says, “I will go quickly in the way of your teaching, because you have given me a free heart.” I love that. It tells me that the more we learn about God, the faster we learn and we actually feel the release from being burdened down by sin, guilt and worry. A free heart. FREEDOM! I suspect that there is no greater desire than to be free.
I think back to when I was a child at the close of the school year - a whole summer to play outside! That feeling was electric, bubbling up inside, the anticipation stealing my breath. Adults seemed to delight in popping that balloon, right around the 4th of July, “Summer is half done. Almost time to go back to school…” What?? No!
One favorite verse that forms a scene in my mind is Romans 8:21: “Creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.” The glorious freedom of the children of God. This is what learning about Jesus is all about. Studying isn’t for everyone. There are some who would rather have a root canal than read a book. I live with one of those :) But increasing in spiritual knowledge ignites something in all of us. I’ve seen it happen over and over. And the more you learn the more you realize what you don’t know.
We will learn forever. We will be FREE forever. Ah, that glorious freedom as God’s children. Think of that!
Have a blessed day!
