The Righteous Stand Firm Forever
“When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever” ~Proverbs 10:25
Storms…it seems that we, as a nation, have had a lion’s share of violent weather this past year. Entire towns wiped out by raging waters. Snow and ice devouring highways. Carnage.
It seems so unfair. How can the “goodness of God” be defended? We can’t help but question this.
Bad things happen because we live in a world that is infused with sin. But that is temporary. One day, one glorious day, all will be transformed and everything made perfect. No wickedness, no storms, no loss, no grief nor pain nor suffering.
Jesus suffered the Storm of judgment on the cross, conquering death and destruction. We have become righteous because of Him. Do we deserve it? Do we deserve the results of the storms that pass through our lives?
“Deserves got nothing to do with it”, as Clint Eastwood said in the movie ‘Unforgiven’.
We can only trust that God’s plan for our lives is perfect. The chorus to “Praise You in this Storm” by the Casting Crowns can speak His love into our hearts that don’t understand.
And I'll praise You in this storm

For You are who You are

You hold in Your hand
