The Word Became Flesh
O Holy Night! A night set apart from every other in the history of the world. A night so special - it revealed miracle upon miracle, fulfilled prophecies uncountable, love unlimited, and a glimpse of the Glory of heaven as this most wondrous Gift was given. God dwelt among us. As one of us.
God covered all the bases - the announcement was generously and graciously portrayed FIRST to the poorest of societal outcasts of the Jewish community who spread the good news in the little town of Bethlehem, insignificant and disregarded. And then to the upper class, wealthy Gentile scholars from foreign lands whose job included welcoming newborn kings of other nations.
They had something in common - recipients of a celestial delivery of the message - a fulfillment of Psalm 19:1 " The heavens declare the Glory of God! How plainly it shows what He has done!" Multitudes of angels singing, lighting up the dark expanse to the shepherds and the "Bethlehem star", guiding the magi.
But there was something else that these unlikely categories shared - their hearts. Open and tender to God's voice. Willing to go where He led. Oh, let our hearts be listening for Him. Let us follow His "star" and be light to others, a reflection of His Glorious Light, those radiant beams from His Holy face.
Celebrate the newborn King! He will reign forever and ever!
