Then you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you. - Zechariah 4:9

“The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands will also complete it. Then you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you.” ~Zechariah 4:9
Zechariah - prophet and priest who lived during the time of Judah’s restoration, when the exiles had returned from Babylon and were rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem, around 520 to 470 BC.
Zerubbabel - influential political and religious leader in Israel during the time when Jewish exiles returned from captivity in Babylon. He was the grandson of King Jehoiachin of Judah and a descendant of David. Zerubbabel is best remembered for spearheading the rebuilding of God’s Temple in Jerusalem in the 6th Century B.C.
Any time you see the word ‘foundation’ in the Bible, it is referring to Jesus. It’s like a flashing light saying, “look closer”. The instructions for the new temple differ slightly from the original temple in that they introduce the Spirit. Looking back, we are able to see what God intended, but they had no idea that one day, God would indwell within us, not just among us.
Just mull that around a bit…GOD LIVES IN YOU. Even at your absolute worst, you can’t push Him out. Francois du Toit writes, “Realize that your life is God’s building; His sanctuary, designed for His permanent abode. He designed every cell in your body to accommodate Him.”
“Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” ~1 Corinthians 3:16
I’ll start my day with that in mind! It’s gonna be a great day!
