There is no fear in love

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment , The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” ~1 John 4:18

“Nothing is permanent in this wicked world - not even our troubles”, quoted Charlie Chaplin.

But, there IS one thing that is permanent - love, along with faith and hope [1 Corinthians 13:13]. Jesus embodies all three of these. 1 John 4:8 tell us that God is love.

When we are flooded with His love, there is nothing to fear. Think of the boy, David, facing the blood-thirsty giant Goliath. Of Daniel spending the night with some hungry lions. On the other side of the coin, we have Jonah who ran in the opposite direction of God’s direction due to fear. He rejected God’s love for the people of Nineveh and fled the scene.

Even when we feel that we’ve disappointed God, let Him down, or outright rejected Him, He doesn’t stop loving us. There is nothing we can do to increase or decrease His love. NOTHING. NO.THING. That slaps me in the face when I start judging someone. He loves them as much as He loves me. As much as He loves His Son. Whaaaat? That's hard to swallow sometimes.

We cannot fathom this kind of love. The love that said, “Forgive them - cancel their sin - they can’t help themselves.” The love that nailed our sin to the cross - the judge became the one judged. For all.

I cannot understand it. I can only say THANK YOU!
