“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts." ~Deuteronomy 6:6-7

“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” ~Deuteronomy 6:6-7

My Mom had this passage hanging in our living room, beautifully written in calligraphy, embossed with gold. As a child, the shiny attracted me and I often would trace the letters with my tiny fingers. It now is displayed in MY living room and I'm wondering which of my children will want this someday.

What a blessing it is to have God-loving parents and grandparents! I was never force-fed scripture or made to memorize - they made learning about Jesus fun, interesting and ‘cool’. Walks in the woods with my Grandma were especially memorable - she was a fun fact Queen and had endless ideas of what to do with things we found. She connected everything to our Creator and I knew, even from a young age, that my relationship with God was key.

I’ve tried to carry on what was ‘impressed on me’. Our kids need the Lord. This world is TOUGH. The enemy is on over-drive, sneaking in distractions (talk about shiny!) that entice and entrap until it’s almost too late.

But, it is NEVER too late! Don’t give up! Jesus is the way-maker. Pray, be a good example, forgive and love.

“Train up a child in the way he should go, And even when he is old he will not depart from it.” ~Proverbs 22:6
