They Will Soar on Wings Like Eagles

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31

Even as a young girl, I loved this verse. Soaring like the eagle!!!! Have you ever watched one in flight? They seem to suspend midair, gliding on air currents forever and ever - up to 125 miles without stopping, in fact! Some eagles can fly for 6-7 hours straight without stopping. I love imagining that I can fly - there is utter freedom without restraint.

Isaiah prophesied that the people of God will have this same strength and endurance. It seems impossible, but "all things are possible with God" - scripture tells us many many times that the impossible becomes possible when God is with you. We can say this, post it on our fridge, sing worship songs about it, but when we actually put that belief into practice, it is astonishing. It makes me wonder why I am amazed when God goes above and beyond what we can think or imagine. Why don't I expect it? He promises us. God Almighty PROMISES us that we will soar like eagles - rising above the chaos life as we step out of the boat, eyes focused on Him. He will never leave us to fend for ourselves - He is there every step of the way, even carrying us when we need it. HE is our strength. Always and forever.

"It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8
