Walk in the Light
"But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin" ~1 John 1:7
We all have our special friend - the one that understands us and 'gets' us. The Piglet to our Pooh. "We'll be friends forever, won't we, Pooh?" "Even longer".
"Piglet, how do you spell love?" "Pooh, you don't spell love, you feel it"
That is how Jesus and John were - Jesus was as much man as He was God and He had His Piglet. The scriptures call him, John, the beloved disciple. John is the one who wrote the book of John, 1rst, 2nd and 3rd John and the book of Revelation. If we read the beginning of 1 John, we can just FEEL that connection: "We've SEEN Him, we've TOUCHED Him - the One who is eternal life! The One who was with the Father in heaven - You gotta believe me!"
John tells his readers (that includes us) that God is light and we should walk in that light. That is very poetic and some may ask, what does that actually mean?
Way way back in the day of Moses, he would meet with God and his face would glow. He actually had to mask up to cover his shining face - I think this was a hint of what John is talking about - if we spend time with God, in prayer and study, we will start reflecting that light to those around us. And when we get together with fellow believers, BAM! That is magnified! And all because of what Jesus did on the Cross. It reminds me of the picture of a kitten walking into a small group/prayer and a Lion leaving. The fellowship with 2 or more gathered in His name makes something special happen. Jesus promises that He is there. We know that He never leaves us, but this verse indicates that it's amplified. We know what that feeling is like - the Holy Spirit is wrapped around us, electrifying and energizing. You feel like you can conquer anything!
