Way of Holiness

Isaiah 35:8 - And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it. 

Our scripture today is talking about walking in the way of Holiness. In Isaiah’s day, they used a highway with a goal to get to the Holy City of Zion. They used it for a pilgrimage to get to the feasts and to meet the Lord in His Holy Temple.  But the highway we want to focus on today is a different “way”, not just a ceremonial one that Israel used to use. 

"Behold the Lamb of God who comes to take away the sin of the world".  Isaiah prophesied this 700 years before Christ came! Notice that he wrote, THE Way, not A way.  Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to Holiness, to be set apart as a people for the purpose of God.  And that purpose is love.  We are part of His plan -to show His love to all. 

Jesus told His disciple, Thomas, this very thing in John 14:6 "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." And He told Martha from Bethany, "I am the resurrection and the life. He that believes in Me, though he may die, yet shall he live."  It's all connected.  Everything points to Jesus Christ, the King of kings!  

If you want to make the decision to travel this highway, the Way of Holiness, the route has been given clearly to the entire world. And the only way is Jesus Christ. There is no other way. If you reject Jesus, you will find yourself on the highway leading to death and destruction. The best part is, if you travel His highway, the toll has already been paid!  Which highway are you going to take?
