What Is Heard

“So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ” ~Romans 10:17

We hear in different ways - some hear by seeing, others by touch. What about the deaf? What about those people who never have seen a Bible or heard the name of Jesus? In fact, verse 18 asks that very thing. In response, Paul quotes Psalm 19, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky displays what His hands have made. Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world”. Creation shouts of Him! Aren’t we in awe when we see a spectacular sunset?

We have such a responsibility to reflect our Lord. Others see Him through us. Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is WITHIN you.” in Luke 17:21. Our actions and speech might be the very thing that causes someone to seek Jesus Christ. Paul taught, “Let no filthy talk be heard from your mouths, but only what is good for building up people and meeting the need of the moment. This way you will administer grace to those who hear you.” ~Ephesians 4:29

Father, let our very being display the message of Christ. Let those who need to hear, see Him though us and guard our mouths from profanity and gossip. Let Your love be in our eyes as we interact with the world. Let us be vessels of your grace, broken to let Your light shine, drawing the world to the message of Your Son. Amen
