What is the Best Silver to Use for Jewelry?
Silver has surpassed gold as the trendiest metal to wear in the past decade. I have always preferred silver over gold jewelry, I have no idea why, I just have! Silver jewelry is classic and timeless and will last a very long time, with the right care.
Hopefully the chart below will help explain the differences in the Silver Jewelry that we carry at Blessed Be Boutique.
Does Sterling Silver Tarnish?
One of the biggest misconceptions about sterling silver jewelry is that it will not tarnish as long as it's sterling silver. Unfortunately, unless your sterling silver jewelry is plated with Rhodium or white gold, if it's exposed to salty air, chlorine, sulfur, humidity, prolonged direct sunlight, perspiration, cosmetics, household cleaning products and other strong chemicals, it WILL tarnish or turn black.
If you don't believe me, do a quick google search that asks,
Does sterling silver jewelry tarnish? You'll see link after link, including the top one from Tiffany & Co explaining that sterling silver DOES tarnish unless plated with rhodium.
Blessed Be Boutique does carry rhodium plated jewelry! Rhodium is a precious metal that is in the family of platinum and is more expensive than gold.
