When You Ask
Father, sometimes it is so hard to believe that You are answering our prayers. It seems like You don't hear us. We are surrounded by sickness and loss, grief and pain. We know we should not doubt. Our minds call out to You, but our hearts are like the waves of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. Take that unruly heart of ours and tame it - let us remember all the scripture that shows us Your lovingkindness, Your unwavering fidelity and faithfulness.
We remember that we walk by faith and not by sight - You taught by stories throughout the Bible - Abraham waited 25 years for the promised son, the three men in ancient Babylon, rather than bowing down to an idol, they stood firm and were rescued by You. Moses and the enslaved Israelites, at least a million of them, left Egypt for a land You held for them. Peter walked on the waves of the sea. The sick - healed, the deaf - heard, etc. etc. etc.
You promised that even when we are unfaithful, You will never leave us or forsake us, and will be faithful FOR us. The ultimate stuntman! Thank you.
You take our moanings and groanings and turn them into solid pleas and petitions. Give us patience to wait for Your answer, for You tell us it will come. Give us ears to hear Your voice, for You are our Shepherd and we, as Your sheep, only know Your call. Let us hear it loud and clear, not obscured by noises of this evil age.
Father, let us feel Your ever-present peace as we wait for You. Thank you for being our hiding place, our shield and our rock, our Savior.
Amen and Amen.
Have a blessed day
