Words From the Mouth of the Wise are Gracious

“Words from the mouth of the wise are gracious, but fools are consumed by their own lips.” ~Ecclesiastes 10:12

You often hear, “they twisted the words of the Bible”. or “they are cherry-picking”. I saw a quote the other day by Jordan Harrell and it was summarized hot-topics in a new way and made me realize how much we need the mind of Christ. He is wisdom for us. Wisdom says, “know the context of the scripture. Know the audience. Know what world for which it was written.”

*Genocide is biblical; loving your enemy is biblical. But only one is Christlike.

*Slavery is biblical; Chainbreaking is biblical. But only one is Christlike.

*Patriarchy is biblical; Counter-culture elevation of women is biblical. But only one is Christlike.

*Retributive violence is biblical; Grace-filled restoration is biblical. But only one is Christlike.

*Segregation is biblical; Unity is biblical. But only one is Christlike.

Christ transforms, not the Bible. Be wary of those who know one but not the other.
