Yet I Will Rejoice in The Lord

Yet I Will Rejoice in the Lord

"Yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation." Habakkuk 3:18

I was asked a question today, "What is your idea of perfect happiness?" I thought before I answered - it seems there are (in my mind, anyway) varying levels of happiness and as you experience different scenarios, you are perfectly happy at that moment. For example, rocking my grandbaby to sleep - ah! sweet warm softness nestled in my neck - pure bliss. I remember a time in college - I was part of the stage setup for a James Taylor concert. I got to sit right up front and I remember so clearly that recognition of absolute contentment during one of his songs. Another instance, a rare afternoon nap. My window was open and the breeze was the perfect temperature, caressing my cheek as I dozed. Nothing ached - total comfort. I still try to replicate that to this day, unsuccessfully, I'm sorry to say.

I believe these are little glimpses of the pure happiness we will feel someday in the presence of our God. Even when we go through rough times, we have the deep-rooted joy in our hearts that help sustain us. The writer of Hebrews tells us, "Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end. He did not give up because of the cross! On the contrary, because of the joy that was waiting for Him, He thought nothing of the disgrace of dying on the cross, and He is now seated at the right side of God's throne."

Do you remember the children's VBS song, "I've got the joy joy joy joy down in my heart. Where? Down in my heart. Where? Down in my heart I got the joy joy joy joy down in my heart. Where? Down in my heart to stay!
(Sorry if you end up singing this all day long LOL!)

Have a blessed day!
