You are Safer in the Middle of a Battlefield if That is Where God Wants You

You are safer in the middle of a battlefield if that is where God wants you, than home in bed.

God's will is the place to be - there is no place in this universe more protected and secure. People say "God willing", but are we really sure what that means? Some view God as a wrathful angry power, hurling lightning bolts at offending mankind. Others picture God as a benevolent old man sitting on a throne granting favors for those with the most points. We cannot humanize God. He is so much more than what we can fathom.

We have freedom to make choices. God already knows what we're going to do, but like many parents, He keeps a loose grip, allowing us to make our way through life. But I believe that hold on us is eternal and stretchy. What? He lets us push hard, but in the end, His will prevails. "My counsel shall stand, and all My will shall be done" Isaiah 46:10b

The account of Joseph and the multicolored coat is such a great example of this. His brothers sell him into slavery, telling their father that he was killed by a wild animal. Years later, Joseph has risen from slavery, survived prison from a false charge to become second in command to Pharaoh. God gave Joseph the wisdom to prepare for the future and made Egypt wealthy by "saving" the world from famine. This set the stage for a brotherly reunion, forgiveness and a family reunited.

Here's my point: Joseph tells his terrified brothers, "you planned evil against me. God planned it for good, in order to bring about what it is this day—to save the lives of many people." Gen 50:20 So, no matter what happens to us along the way, whether undeserved, or consequences of our own actions, God still has a plan for us. He will use the bad to bring about the good. How comforting is that!

Have a blessed day!
