You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into light
“You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into light.” ~2 Samuel 22:29
King David wrote these words as part of a song when the Lord saved him from being murdered by Saul. Three-hundred some years later, Jonah prayed parts of this psalm from the belly of the whale. Seven hundred plus years later, Jesus prayed them from the cross. Connections. Relationship.
The Bible is connected by a single thread. That single thread is Messiah. Christ Jesus, Yeshua. From the first verse of Genesis 1:1 thru the last verse of Revelation 22:21, it’s all Jesus. Genesis tells us that everything single thing created was made IN Christ; “In the Beginning, God created…” Christ said, “I am the beginning and the end” and “I am in all”.
Science tells us that we need at least 4 basic elements to survive: water, air, food and light. Jesus says, “I am the Living Water, I am the Breath of Life, I am the Bread of Life and I am the Light of the World.” Jesus is the answer to everything. [side note: I used to teach teen Sunday School and every time I asked a question, a certain student answered ‘Jesus’. They were often right even though they were being a smarty pants]
He shines light on everything - tangled messes in our lives somehow become less jumbled, cluttered minds straighten a bit, a way is made thru obstacles. Seek Him. Pursue His Light. It is never ever denied, but given freely. Do you know that's why we give gifts on Christmas? To celebrate the greatest gift of all. Jesus.
Oh Come Oh Come Emmanuel - God with us!
